No better time than now...for change.

What is Change Alive?

Change Alive (once fully brought to life) is a dual-purpose project.

First, you'll find an eclectic mix of stories and situations, people and actions that are bringing change alive in our world today. Second, the creation of this blog is meant to help raise some serious change (or even the more stately green stuff) for my best friend's sister in her fight against breast cancer.

Who are we?

We are are Ilona Meagher and Maureen Bober.

Ilona is an independent journalist, author and new media developer with seven years of successful blogging experience under her belt. (In fact, her blogging led to an invitation to write a book and the chance to testify before the U.S. Congress...read her full bio for more.) She will be doing the majority of the blogging, and so, when you see 'me' or 'I' around here, chances are good it's Ilona doing the talking. (Not a big surprise to anyone that knows her...:o)

Maureen is the sister of Ilona's best friend. Living in Chicago and the proud mom of a recent college grad, she's been fighting breast cancer for over a decade. Even with insurance, the bills pile up quickly in the face of extended illness. So, I want to do what I can to lift some of that financial stress and worry.

What can you expect to see here?

Because limitations in life can hold you back, this will be a no-holds-barred blog. No field or form of change will be off-limits. We won't be limited to exploring issues having to do with breast cancer (though we'll include plenty on that, too). The only unifying theme is change itself.

How can reading this blog help you?

Let's face it. There's a lot of stress and worry in the world today.

While battling a serious illness yourself (or caring for someone who is) is a bigger stressor than the general variety we all experience day-in and day-out, they both take a toll on our health and well-being. Unrelieved stress and anxiety can lead to anger, fear, depression and a wide variety of physical and/or mental illnesses.

Blogs can be a positive outlet and force for change for everyone involved, reader and writer alike. If you're seeking a positive about-face or quantum leap dose to whatever ails you, I hope you'll bookmark us. And if you drop a bit of chicken scratch into Maureen's insurance bill bucket, thank you. (We'll have more details on how to do this as we complete the design and development of this site.)

We hope the Change Alive info and resource pool will become an oasis for you. There's serious change in the air today. That's a fact, and that's our hope, too.

(See, we told you this was going to be a dual-purpose blog.)

Thanks for dropping in.

P.S. Bringing Change Alive into being (both the blog and the endeavor) requires will power. Here's a great quote to kick things off:

"There is no better time than now to remember, rebuild, reawaken, and reclaim your innate powers of will." -- Dan Millman, The Everday Enlightenment Journal
